Soleen Yusef was born in 1987, in Duhok/Iraqi Kurdistan. At the age of nine she and her family had to flee to Germany because of the political circumstances. She graduated high school in Berlin and afterwards attended the Academy of Stage Arts, where she was trained as a singer and actress. Meanwhile she also finished her training as a fashion seamstress and tried out her expertise in different creative fields. Eventually she ended up working in the film industry for a few years and was a production and director assistant at Mîtosfilm. In 2008 she then started studying feature film directing at the Baden-Wurttemberg Film Academy. Her film Trattoria, which she had made in her third year, premiered at the 62. Berlin International Film Festival in 2012. Because of her outstanding academic achievements, Soleen Yusef was distinguished with the Germany Scholarship in 2012. She also participated as a Baden-Wurttemberg scholarship holder in the UCLA Workshop at the Film Academy in Los Angeles in 2013. House Without Roof, which is not only her graduating project but also her first feature film, that has been shot in spring 2015 within and around her hometown Duhok, could achieve a great success. Since then, Soleen Yusef has been working as a director for several international series productions. Among others for Netflix and Amazon Prime. In addition to developing her own cinema, serial and television projects as a creator, Soleen Yusef is currently fulfilling a long-awaited dream with writing her first children's film called Winners, which will be produced by DCM Pictures.- Writer

Writer, Director, Producer and Editor of numerous narrative features, documentaries and series pilots, Rosebiani's work center on cross-cultural, human rights and gender equality themes. His film debut film was "Dance of the Pendulum" (1995) is a parody to exploitation in Hollywood b-movies. The film was shot entirely in the house of the late Liberace in Studio City, California.
His subsequent films include "Jiyan" (2001), the first film made in the autonomous Kurdistan region. "Jiyan" is about the aftermath of the infamous chemical attack on the Kurdish town of Halabja in 1987, thus often referred to as 'the Halabja movie'. "Jiyan" was nominated for the Tiger award at International Film Festival Rotterdam and became a festival favorite garnering numerous awards and high critical acclaim including four-star ratings by the Guardian and BBC World.
Rosebiani's "Chaplin of the Mountains" (2013) was penned as pick of the week by New York Times Critics during its USA theatrical run. "Chaplin..." is the first English language film made in the Kurdistan region with a mixed cast of locals, Americans, and Europeans.
His "One Candle, Two Candles" (2014) tackles domestic violence in a patriarchal society while depicting a headlong confrontation between the old school and the new generation. "Candles..." was chosen by HFPA for consideration as a Golden Globe candidate.- Director

Born in Iraqi Kurdistan, Shawkat Amin Korki and his family fled from military oppression in 1975, living in exile in Iran for 24 years. During his years in Iran and after returning to Iraqi Kurdistan, he began working in the theatre, television, and cinema. His short films, made between 1997 and 2005, have been presented at several international festivals, winning awards. Korki wrote, directed, and produced his first feature film in Iraqi Kurdistan, Crossing the Dust, in 2006. It was shown at the International Film Festival of Rotterdam in 2007. The film won many international prizes, including the Best Director and NETPAK Award at Singapore International Film Festival. His second feature, Kick Off (2009), won twelve international awards, including the Busan International Film Festival New Currents Award and FIPRESCI Prize. His third feature, Memories on Stone (2014), has won fifteen international awards, including the 2014 Best Film from the Arab World at the Abu Dhabi Film Festival and the coveted APSA UNESCO Award. His last film, THE EXAM (2021), premiered at 55th Karlovy Vary international film festival and won the critic (PIPRESCI) award. He lives and works in Erbil, Iraqi Kurdistan. His films have participated in more than 200 international film festivals and won more than 50 international awards. At the age of 26, Lizzan Latif embarked on a journey to Singapore to chase his lifelong aspirations of becoming an actor and designer. He dedicated himself to studying multimedia, screenwriting, and acting. Upon his graduation in 2015, he remained steadfast in pursuing his dreams, commencing an acting and stuntman career in China, where he graced the screens of numerous movies, TV series, and feature films.

Bina Qeredaxi was born in the Kurdistan region of Iraq. She earned her BA in Law and Politics in 2010 but started her film and media career in 2007 by writing and directing a popular social awareness-raising show for Kurdistan TV channel, followed by many other successful TV shows. Started early at the age of 11 as a TV presenter for children shows and programs in Kurdistan TV satellite channel. During her studies in university she hosted a raising social awareness program (Tik Tak) in Kurdistan TV, which was about the issues of youth, community and their interests. Shahyan was one of the presenters of the famous show (Good Morning Kurdistan) for 6 years in Kurdistan TV.
When she graduated from college engineering, civil department at university of Duhok 2011, she worked 2 years in the field of engineering, and in 2014 she hosted a TV show (Restart) about city development from many view points in Waar TV mainly dealing with engineering planning and environmental issues. in addition she works as a presenter for Nuroj Morning show in Rudaw TV.

Shamal Sabri is a Kurdish independent award winning film producer and the Artistic Director of Duhok International Film Festival, graduated from Duhok University with BA in English Literature. He was born on 1985 in Duhok city, Kurdistan Region of Iraq. Apart from being one of the co-founders of Duhok IFF in 2009, he has worked in many other fields of video productions, produced many commercials and music videos in NV Production and Vin TV. Throughout his film carrier, he has contributed in many award winning films as an assistant director, production manager, assistant producer and line producer. His latest contributions were in many films such as "Before Snowfall" by Hisham Zaman, "The Swallow" by Mano Khalil, "Memories on Stone" by Shawkat Amin Korki and Michael by Kurdo Duski. He has proven himself over and over as an important player in Kurdistan's developing film industry and eventually earned the position of Artistic Director of Duhok IFF in 2016. Saman Mustefa was borne in 1996 in Kurdistan, Iraq. He started acting as a young child in the films of his brother, award-winning director Sahim Omar Kalifa. He has gone on to play in the films of many well known Kurdish and European directors such as Hussein Hassan Ali, Kamiran Betasi, Serio Tréfaut, to name a few. For his work on the short film Bare Giran/The Heavy Burden, directed by Yilmaz Özdil, Saman won "Best Supporting Actor" award at the Festival Brasil De Cinema Internacional 2020. Saman's insatiable desire to act regularly inspired him to start creating projects of his own. His first short film, The Unknown Life, which he wrote, produced and directed, garnered him a "Best Young Director in Kurdistan" award at the Rwanga Film Festival in Suleymaniah in 2015. Since then, he has written, produced and directed five short films. The most recent, Ido, was nominated at many int'l film festivals in 2021, and won "Best Short Film" at the Australian Int'l Short Film Festival and the "Best Short Film Award" at the Kurdish Film Festival Berlin. When Saman is not acting or directing, he works as a 1st AD on international film productions for Mitos Film. Saman speaks Kurdish and Arabic as native speaker (many dialects & accents) and fluently English.- Bakhtyar Haddad was born in 1976 in Erbil, Kurdistan, Iraq.
